What Lacuna Expert does with your data.

The short version
- Lacuna Expert lets you build an AI expert from your own material that talks to your audience over text, voice, and video. To do that we process the knowledge you add, the content of each conversation, and basic account data.
- The talking avatar is rendered on our own self-hosted infrastructure — your video is never handed to an outside avatar vendor. The AI model, speech processing, and real-time transport are provided by established third parties acting under their own privacy terms.
- We store your experts, knowledge, transcripts, and generated videos so the product keeps working across sessions. Signed-in data persists until you delete it.
- We do not sell your data. There are no advertising trackers, and no analytics SDK reads your conversations.
- You can delete any expert, document, or conversation at any time. Account deletion removes server-side records too.
- For regulated and regional customers, processing and storage can be pinned to a specific region — and because the avatar is self-hosted, video stays in-region.
What we collect, and why
Knowledge you add
The text, PDFs, and web pages you load into an expert. Stored as text in our storage, then split into chunks and embedded so the expert can retrieve the right passage when it answers. It is used only to power your experts.
Conversation content
Messages, microphone audio, and — if you enable it — webcam or screen video during a live session, so the expert can hear, see, and respond. The transcript text is kept; raw audio and video are not stored as files on our servers.
Account data (only if you sign in)
Your email address and the auth identifiers your sign-in provider returns. Used solely to associate your experts and conversations with you across devices. No marketing emails.
Visitor data on shared links
If you gate a link behind an email or an app token, we capture that to admit and meter the visitor. Conversations on your links are visible to you, the creator, so you can see what your audience asked.
Payment data
If you buy a plan or sell access to your content, our payment processor handles the transaction. We store only minimal billing references — never card numbers.
Operational logs
Standard server logs (request paths, status codes, error traces) kept for short windows for debugging. We do not log knowledge bodies or conversation content into operational logs.
Where your data is processed
Runs on our own infrastructure — no third party involved
The talking-head avatar and voice rendering run on infrastructure we operate ourselves, so no outside vendor receives your audience's video or cloned voice. This is also what lets us keep video in-region for data-residency customers.
The remaining processing is handled by a small set of established service providers, each acting only on the data we send it and under its own privacy and security commitments. By function, these are:

We keep a current list of the named providers we rely on as sub-processors and will share it on request to fadi@maivenx.com.
Data residency.For regulated and regional customers, processing can be pinned to a region or run fully on infrastructure we operate — in a fully self-hosted deployment, no data leaves the chosen region. Scoped per engagement.
Retention, deletion, and your rights
Retention
Your experts, knowledge, transcripts, and videos persist until you delete them or close your account. Live session state lives in a short-lived cache only for the duration of the session.
Deletion
Delete an expert, a single document, or a conversation in-app. Deleting a document also removes the stored file and its derived search index (the embeddings).
Account deletion
Email fadi@maivenx.com from the address you signed up with. We will delete your account and associated data within 14 days.
Data export
On request to fadi@maivenx.com, we will provide a JSON export of your server-side records.
Children
Lacuna Expert is not intended for users under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Real likenesses and voices — extra care
When you upload a photo or recordings of a real person to build an expert, you are responsible for having the right to do so. We render that avatar only inside your own experts and do not republish it elsewhere.
If someone whose likeness or voice has been used contacts us at fadi@maivenx.com, we will remove the avatar and any associated material within 7 days.
Data residency
For regulated and regional customers, we can pin processing and storage to a specific region. Because the avatar is self-hosted, live video never leaves that region. Specific guarantees are scoped per engagement — contact us for details.
Changes to this policy
Lacuna Expert is still evolving, and this policy will evolve with it. Material changes will be flagged in the app and dated at the top of this page.
